Inspired Detox

Right now, I am on a health kick, so my recent pins have been about healthy recipes, workouts, detox drinks, etc.  I made a detox drink that I found on Pinterest that had lemons, limes, cucumbers, and mint.  I thought the taste was bearable, but not something I enjoyed drinking (the lime was a little overpowering).  One night, I decided I was going to make my own detox drink from what I had in my fridge (keep in mind that I am a broke college student).  What I found was strawberries, lemons, and mint.  I thought these would go great together as I love a good strawberry lemonade, so I thought this would be similar to that (minus the sugar).

Strawberry Detox Drink

Ingredients:

  • Water
  • About 10 medium-sized strawberries, sliced
  • Half of a medium sized lemon
  • A whole sprig of mint leaves
Add all of these in a water bottle (I primarily use a Camelbak, but for a picture, I placed it in my blender bottle) and then add the water.   Keep in mind that you can alter any of the ingredients based on your personal preferences.

In the morning, your delicious detox drink will be ready!

Now, the benefits of each ingredient:
  • Strawberries:
    • Helps burn stored fat as it contains anthocyanins
    • Boosts short term memory
    • Eases inflammation
    • Lowers the risk for heart disease
    • Helps build strong hair and nails due to biotin
    • Promotes blood flow and oxygen which is helpful for weight loss
  • Lemons:
    • Strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting powers
    • Digestive aid and liver cleanser
  • Mint:
    • Stimulates the digestive enzymes to absorb nutrients from food and consumes fat and turns it into usable energy
    • Promotes digestion and soothes the stomach
    • Mint has many other benefits and if you wish to read more, go to http://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/herbs-and-spices/health-benefits-of-mint.html
I absolutely love this detox drink and I have made it for the past week.  It tastes like the Aquafina flavored strawberry water, but it is completely homemade and you know what is in it rather than guessing the ingredients on the back.

I am planning on trying other detox drinks and will share them with you!  If you have any suggestions for me, please let me know!

Hope you enjoyed this blog!

Let's Get this Started...

I have been contemplating making a blog for some time now.  I really enjoy making things I find on Pinterest and see if they really are what people say they are.  I have had many successes and quite a few failures.

Most of my posts consist of recipes, crafts/DIY, activities, lessons, classroom things, workouts, health, and wedding ideas (a girl can dream).  I mainly focus on doing the DIYs/crafts and recipes.

As a future teacher, Pinterest is probably going to be my life saver, but it has its flaws just like everything else does.  Let's be honest...I have an abundance of pins, but will I ever get the chance to use all of them?  Probably not, but I am going to do my best to show you the ones that I think are worth your time and which ones are not as they appear to be.

Hope you enjoy my blog!  More posts to come!
